Can you find cancer in blood? Our guest can, and the world is a better place for it. Thanks Melanie O’Donahue for coming on and a shout out to the folks at flowjo.com for making huge strides in cancer research. Comparing Homeopathy with Flow Cytometry is a great way to contrast real science with alternative medicine.
Do you believe in Homeopathy? The idea is simple, and we have all the details.
Welcome back I’m your host Adam Yax and of course your favorite cohosts are here with me today Adam Dominguez and Tom Begush. We do have a guest today which was super excited about she’s a real scientists doing work in the blood cancer technologies that is both in research and clinical so we’ll have a lot to talk about I’m always excited to talk to somebody that knows about the subject and works with the diagnostic since we will be diving into homeopathy today I think having someone on who, regularly evaluates human blood with this is is very appropriate because homeopathy is my opinion it cannot diluted and to be nice talk about how to live with the blood all day can tell us what would it looks like you know something to that ability to will be talking with her later on so so it is wholemeal homeopathy and hurt his homeopathy I thought I heard homeopathic remedy of for homeopathy as the industry to the problem is when you only read things in text you never know you I ever homey don’t play the but what I should do here is just quickly intrude you smell so she can be part of the conversation so our guest today is Melanie Donahue hello hello thanks thanks for comment I know that you’ve been on traveling the US talking about the world yeah the world talking about what you got going on there and want to give you chance to but that’s a little bit but I think Tom has some news about today is Saturday, August 12 the day we are recording this and in approximately nine days on August 21 will be the first total solar eclipse to touch the continental United States in 99 years nine panels it is going to proceed on a diagonal path from Oregon all the way down to Florida from where we are in Arizona is a 13 Hour Dr. if you want to be in the totality which should last about 2 1/2 two minutes 15 seconds depending and you better make plans now because hotels along the totality already hooked up and crazy expensive already and I know people that are planning on on making the drive and just camping on the side of the highway because they can’t find anywhere to stay and if you don’t have your glasses already you need to get him I’ve heard that some people order glasses from China that aren’t done right is to be a lot of people some trouble has make sure you do your research and get some authentic real actually going to protect your eyeballs glasses because if you don’t you’ll be blind to poke a hole in cardboard and put it over and is looking at a shadow when you get that pinhole is your a this frequencies ultraviolet frequencies whatever they deserve to hurt people and I’ve also heard people improvising with welders glasses inside on the hand more but is also not really recommended because the sun is different than welding yeah white seas that are going to show up in the winning energy frequencies you know your shot shot of cell frequency same energy anyway and I consider resolving the signs in the April adjustment of the clips know 99 years to knowledge out the earth really is round and I mean to experience all of the things that I don’t see solar clips proves that the sound will no doubt here telling thank you Mr. contrary and clips is when the sun and the moon passes between the sun right so is solar… When the sun passed between the moon and their now know the sun passed between the moon and the no as you have a SPF like 900 on that day a lunar eclipse is when the earth passes between the sun in the moon and the earth cast a shadow on the moon a solar eclipse is when the moon passes between the sun and the earth thereby casting a shadow on the earth for you okay not as interesting as the lower now definitely not definite but if you don’t get a chance to make this solar clips in the next 30 years there are two more coming up okay so start planning now on is like 2030 and one as I hear 45 or something missing, yes in the continental you or or discussion to have led the way for a lot of people it’s a very surreal experience to go to Sedona maybe spiritual experience in a way I know it’s hard surreal taking hits hard for a lot of atheists and skeptics and step up science thinking people to experience spirituality and phenomenon in a lot of ways but natural phenomenon especially something this rare in this amazing is pretty intense and worth it if you can make the trip I take what I want to say I want to see when the sun explodes that’s what I’m about to get back to me for a half-billion years going to look like here in Arizona were only going to see a very small sliver of we we will be in the penumbra of the we won’t be in the totality but we will be in the part of the clips so will be something it’ll just look like a cloud passes in front of the sun but I mean if you if you really want to experience the amazingness of a solar eclipse you got to travel to Lake Idaho or Wyoming for some other concern Montana I don’t know if it’s in Montana you can notice gets solar eclipse 2017.org or eclipse 2017.org it’s a big deal in the flat Earth community and I don’t actually think. It’s flat but if if you have this conspiracy theory that NASA’s really only purpose is to control the human thought that the earth really is round and when you get to the polls you really at the edge and then you believe a listing of the flattered people believe a solar eclipse is something that they can actually experience to completely mathematically wipe out the concept of a flatter if the earth is flat wouldn’t the round disk of the earth you know the disc-shaped coin yes you asked a circular shadow and what the problem is is to compensate for gravity this disc is traveling at a certain speed all right were accelerator accelerating consistently or not just traveling at us that speed either because once you do a set speed of gravity goes a losing as you continue to be going faster continually forever which makes a solar eclipse and impossibility in their math equation of the physics that they believe the world works and so if you can experience a solar eclipse you can experience the thing is like being on the moon when somebody says all the moon landing wasn’t was a hoax you can be on the moon in this particular hoax and go away I’m watching it knowing that it’s not a hoax there’s really you know the beliefs are in effect basis that it would be so as I said is get up early with everyone very real is all I know we currently second so if I have to be continually accelerating on our flat earth it would be very interesting to do the math oh yeah I know were already gone way past be like yeah so there that was question we exceeded, although math is a human construct created by the government control people I heard that aluminum foil hats actually concentrate the mind control waves instead of slowing the minute okay those I think you think about helpful is if you have the means to make it I highly recommend you go see it I know quite a few people trying to get up there with our fees and if you’re in Australia most of our listeners ignore all those associative it’s flat there’s really is flat I know you’re right everybody with you take that atheists arming flatter Thursday slump everybody and some word literally metal authority is a common medium check made atheists okay I have is I was not that the day so demand you did a little research on this one incredibly little take what I thought so I wasn’t there to talk about what was it all about what wire we find are what we find is beautiful and really all you only talked about the same thing that I think most people already knows most of symmetry and hormones will the store or the story that the research was the man wanted to he was actually looking for criminal element and he took all the different pictures of criminals to see if a criminal had a quote unquote certain look and when he compiled them all in one composite visitor image he realized that the image he had made was beautiful and it made them wonder what is it that makes us think something is beautiful could clearly these are not good people why do we think that they’re beautiful so they got into you know into the holiest of symmetry of her symmetry before pressure right loin you know they say a lot of like beautiful work of art stuff are based off of phi and so are like the world most beautiful people based based off of what five finalists for the Golden ratio Google fine it’s it’s a really fast and that superfast Internet note that the golden ratio have to look that hard to do that I’m generally going ratio you really all that’s what I was using it in the deep south of cells the show you this is a is to be is a B is to see yeah okay so what like third third third now so basically that the golden ratio is a perfect spiral is from the center and you work your way out it symmetrically goes out perfectly and so we base a lot of of our feelings of beauty towards that the other thing is is hormones are chemistry and they’re talking about how estrogen like a certain level of estrogen makes women prettier and that with the crêpe of the guys discussed around doesn’t actually make them prettier what makes them is stronger but it also makes them weaker people that have more testosterone are more prone to like disease injury and injury so the reason why women find testosterone attractive doesn’t have anything to do with their ability to fight off disease it’s that obviously they’re so powerful that they don’t need to worry about it it’s the same as like a guy the more money as so like a guy with a Casio watches, gross but a guy with $10,000 watches super attractive was that easy to watch it’s the car – so when they compiled the pictures of all of these you say these are criminals right to figure out when world your dad really prison as beautiful as I note in the whole story actually goes out of a bummer that was the most intriguing part about the value the sale of a particular person in the show actually met him like I don’t I didn’t see the beautiful but I don’t final dude beautiful Saugus roses maybe they did that study know all sorts of different groups of people and concatenate the images together if you have the same thing because if you take a whole bunch of images and concatenate an entry is going to be improved over two on this as I only remember words concatenate mean it doesn’t hurt do not any fillable ID the dictionary or lexicon of the summer is all do that is the sensors are okay I better learn seven pretty sure everybody already knew that symmetry hormone is discovered literally nothing I thought that there would be some neurology and thereabouts zero it was an interesting that we about a peacock as well oh well the male and female data to you one thing I did learn I didn’t know that if you pick up the PM today learn that is just need to take a quick break to mention our sponsor E campus you have textbooks while seldom shop shipping is free I get paid or given in-store credit for books that you need for the next class that you have go to critical cactus.net/son your ex today back to the show but I wanted to do was get an idea what you’re up to now you sent me a syllabus of what you’ve got going on and it’s very industry-specific is not yeah so it it was good I know was good because there are words I never heard and there were there were words and there are a lot of resume to address the best words isolate words like the a and all the other ones were just too big but it it gave me an idea of what you’re doing and I think I I think in this is where you’re going to correct me but I think you doing some awesome cancer research and write yes all right we love it for you back is cancers going down so the most promising research that I’ve been able to dig up over the last couple days is the with there’s a lot of cancers of the drug research there’s no there’s the imaging there’s also two different areas of research but the area the rate of research that I thought I heard was most promising is in early detection early detection is the you know a big part of it can you talk to us little bit about what you’re doing and is him in my right did I kinda evaluated you got some equipment that you’re working with right know what I worked for 20 years and ask for laboratory during flow cytometry which is the type of testing is a country as a way of using lasers and monoclonal antibodies with floor crumb markers to identify and act self-service cell on economic event that is pushing a bunch of fish has to when you recognition of this way bluefish that a big fish small fish whenever you’ve sorted them out and now you can identify them and you can work with them and and learn from them or them in some other manner that’s flow cytometry ideas for cytometry noticed in my career is looking a lymphoma without diagnosing people with blood cancers and monitoring the treatment and hopefully into remission at Southeast in research and you almost anything for cytometry and research that huge and viral research vaccine research cancer research know everything at every new discovery that you hear about you as far as early detection and treatment of genetic ever using for the noun working with this company ran an international level going out and educating people and improving the science and am working from the software perspective and create in improving the data analysis you do that well you imagine the massive massive amounts of data while I want to give you some love for what you’re doing and I use data for that because I’m such an emotional guy come into my feelings so I used a therapist I really appreciate the Dr. Seuss explanation of what is a country that guy in the flesh no idea what you’re talking about the yeah red Fish blue Fish yes right there with you demand and I cancel the picture here little over a site early detection’s huge if you don’t understand the if the impact Unlimited of your quick obit a number from the data side stage one cancer defined cancer at stage 192% survival rate but if you don’t find cancer until stage 270% survival rate and it gets worse as you go if you don’t find cancer till stage 339% survival rate and if you don’t find that cancer until stage IV is a 17% survival rate and some of these cells don’t die off with chemotherapy of the drugs and those that don’t so you get this really nice length of time where you don’t have cancer and it’s wonderful to get your life back but those little bloggers who die off their left and they’re the ones that were resistant to whatever treatment you were given those guys fro and you come back that’s what they say comes back with a vengeance because of those ones aren’t as treatable so in the middle between the time you’re done and the time you get tested again if the tests are very good you might end up finding that you were in stage II versus three by the time they find it again and you’re saying it with what were doing we can find it sooner and have more sensitive let me say a couple at the first of all what you got there are probably good statistics but they’re very very generic yes all big Google old in their freaking out saying I have stayed straight breast cancer I have no chance yeah that’s not right rate so it varies greatly but tape subsets not all of those are lumped together and this was a 2014 or 2012 data so but it’s definitely significant earlier you can better said that so the better tests to come up with on and I did a talk at on-site which is one of the bank in Bothell industry talk conferences recently and one of the topics on top of this was misdiagnosis yeah 12 million people in the United States are misdiagnosed you yesterday and ends that like just enormous amount of people to the sensitivity and accuracy of the sensitivity so how sensitivity is basically finding it even though it’s just a little bit there right now you sensitivity so that you can find them at that stage I really can I’ve heard that the Jeanette you said genomics and I’ve heard that big things have changed Alaska for years with the with the genome of it because they’ve done a lot of work on that you know that if you have a cancer of any kind really in your body that it’s gonna shed some of your blood and then is there any blood and these people are trying to go oh well we can find students blood it is that sort of some of the sorting that you guys are able to do as well as to identify some of that sent there’s a lot of work being done and they part when I company doing now you’re getting salads and sequencing and instead of looking at a few and maybe hundred thousand cells now are looking 20,001 tonight I’m at the seasonal status you have a lot more information that we can look at on the metabolism of demons how to make environment that is exactly what is happening as fast as a DD like a supercomputer to process all this data or something, so they one of the things and so it kind of gone from flow cytometry to genomics now my company has just come out with new data analysis software called seeking as the cute DEQ and on clever bank may have in order to process all this information you have to have faith incredible coding skills in a language called our and and and Philly have this whole new field of what are called bio and fermentation in a basically basically mathematician diet with biological information cool I love is there a very unique breed if you are more than engineers like know English is horrible when I gave my tie case that you know what an algorithm is don’t you and Nathan algorithm is whether bio and petition says when you want to explain what he did and if you have anyway so on and then he would still take you months to get your data and you still wouldn’t have been there label everything out all of the conclusion that now so now basically put at it so you can do that anyone can do now and this is on a case-by-case basis in the clinical environment are just in research murmuring right now it’s just recently subside that’s the extent of my knowledge I went way beyond that like with the first sentence well he’s talking about learned am no talking about supercomputers I can imagine Mr. DNA talking about dinosaurs have on the drowsy bark but maybe I can use some anecdotal personal experience that ties some of the topics together we love anecdotal evidence why would we now do you bring the hard science I’ll bring the anecdote rate*you cancer are you I am a cancer on Reddit will burn more scope for us to know and when I got the reference anyway and little evidence that’s my thing but go to sell at a family member who is recently been re-diagnosed with cancer the unit I’m to try to keep this generic because I was a little long talk about but the issue it was intestinal cancer and so my family member was having a hard time going to the bathroom yesterday went to the doctor and actual doctor not homeopathic like a real doctor and he got put on you know he got put in a high-fiber diet is a diet yet but although low fiber diet high protein diet all kinds of different diets and then you know 912 months later he still is having a hard time going to the bathroom and he goes and sees another doctor and is like TAKING x-ray lo and behold a gas tumor while in his intestine irony literally yeah there’s a joke in there somewhere I’m sure there is so anyway recently had surgery using chemo now and he’s recovering is doing much better but if the doctor had just started out with an x-ray or a CAT scan or a blood test or some sample not that’s the thing about this yeah sinfulness of a blood test especially when you go in Third World countries need to look you know that’s because blood tests are very expensive you well if you can just draw somebody’s blood and then send it to a lab and have that lap do some flow set that I had it I know we actually give our software away free to on anyone in Africa is doing really all that is too cool so in then boom you can get some idea what’s going on in there without the x-ray from when I stand I mean now your song about blood cancer specifically that you’re doing clinical work with right that’s when you find you’re not finding breast cancer in the blood right defined no solid tumors right leukemia is a finding that malignancies not actually understood those desk nice whenever my head all you know it hematologic means something with blood right you can infer and cause it is logical blood and it is silly, just have anybody you know malignant mean that that’s not not good that her talk about the system slide deck for not just take him out peripheral blood talking about bone marrow and hold lymphatic system as well and so so that spreads about how much different types of cancer you guys can pick up on some you mean well wearing eight they usually originate in one place and regulate all of the other things that you need to know where did it originate like that and then has its other places I’ve never thought of blood as being on the periphery it’s really weird when the extremities I guess like I keep all my blood inside the internal blood that’s where you keep your for the most part it’s not what Steve Jobs dialed in Susie right there on time to while uterus cancer and homeopathy yeah he does a very he had a treatable design zone I had a cancer I think he died of completely ignoring the doctors to do I mean still the pancreatic cancer I thought that he had one of the E rare versions that actually was treatable right now but he decided to go on like an all fruit diet instead of manually seeking Millie had some serious homeopathy is an alternative medicine it’s close enough what is like a fruit diet to treat cancer yeah there there are homeopathic doctors that will have a also learned that’s an oxymoron I know they will have no other school for that and I mean certificates than it gets knots and it almost it will over the next I guarantee you 1020 years turn into what we think of as legitimate and other industries where you start to say some licensing happening and then once it’s licensed by state and always given a little more legitimacy in the pre-since totally legit but I mean you can go to homeopathic that a lot of people do you I’ve heard the people are not vaccinating their pets the same because they’re afraid the dog is going to get autism to the human condition so I my body with diagnosable and artistic die all one well my dad was enough did not put a vessel as valuable maybe need an event I though the first mirror had anybody say is optional she’s like oh it’s good to be an indoor cat now that I like them full of everything you’ve got, the Academy and everything just in case I want swollen and are you like I got out that it I need to take a moment here to mention our sponsor E set antivirus I trust you set not only does it keep you keep the system safe but it’s small snowblower where it will not slow down your business servers and desktops clinics PCs mags on file servers Web servers to try it out help us out go to critical cactus duck/set and secure your system now so Melanie what’s what’s the next step for your work you what you need both to the one I like expand upon what you doing yeah you know you need don’t like or get a prayer for her is okay well I’m doing now is an individual and on is working at an international level with international committee for standardization and quality in flow cytometry so I am problem with researchers is that they like all wanted to way all you and Andy have that way of thinking of just interesting interesting now but, that is there has to be some standardization of everything you do has to be reproducible and obviously gets to go toward being a companion diagnostic or treatment or or drivers are actually contributing to the system with a do something new needs to be wrapped in so that ended same way and we meet my guy so I’m working with I with that international committees and I’m also on where we are working with FDA of regulating this process is there and you know how now actually met some people the real and there is an ideal how could it could be better and should be better probably has been away for a long time but they haven’t disappeared him out there now okay artist’s communal Department of Justice. Getting them to understand what it what the science actually is said that they can then properly regulated because what they want to do is just say oh well you should have three sets of controls in your okay well I understand how you think that is logical but in this case it’s not all don’t understand what were doing here that the challenge working with the FDA but basically works in the top down lets you know it’s regulate this standardized bring everybody up to a certain level of quality work was doing great work it’s yeah like herding yeah Chevrolet so nothing was ever considered pseudoscience you know what flows closed cytometry I don’t think it was always legitimate and is about a Mediterranean here you relatively new that that usefulness has just first came out doing well in English 798 man and drum so dramatic from where where I started where it is now a conflict drop in abbreviations like your start doing flow yeah no I I was thinking she told me that I can’t where he referred to is just flow by itself the beginning of a similar is having the words low in flow cytometry create so much fun for honestly serving like going to fly low and have all day and never ending that the people I work on the nerdiest in now from what I read that you sent us which I didn’t understand most of it I understand that you’re trying to automate a lot of these procedures of the human element of well yes and now I don’t think grabbing a human element out of that that the E hypothesis that I am entered the study with and let me back up next to you how flat cytometry data is so typically on your path and he felt by laser hand the fluorescence marker on it is causing an omission which has the digital pop ankle and I got this digital policy got something that you can actually work with and were looking at pattern recognition to say there’s 10 cancel different markers on a cell for each cell you can say okay well was there an omission for this marker site can say yes or no for each of the 10 Mark Nadine is for 10,000 S. and information to this mass so what happens is is you use.plots on bivariate two-dimensional… On and and look at these different combinations of by looking for patterns and use those patterns to identify major cell type analogies different subgroups of friends and secondly it’s a white Olympus iron Egypt allocates in its length in the T cell or the entity will be seller and abnormal cell lines of that this huge complex on the recognition to flow decision tree typing yes exactly the flowchart not needed to do that I can do one more habitats are very very attached there’s a lot of color and there’s a lot of pattern and there’s a lot of pride in learning what normal alert looks like versus various disease states on so now there’s this push this trend and let the, to use automated analysis which is the algorithm that violent limitations have created and play cluster on cluster recognition might okay it appears that the center concentration and that means that this population the Masons in it and it’s all driven by Albert writing very hard to very hard to trust especially when I call the people because you’re diagnosing some yeah there is an eight-year-old who might or might not have acute leukemia you given the wrong diagnosis the wrong diagnosis means he either way you actually write anything you have very dozen either way there on your system and I have been there I patients misdiagnosed on anyway so to give up and trust an algorithm to do this for you that the study I did talk with to take 26 different specimens bone marrow than peripheral blood on a variety of different these states and on compare manual analysis to automate it and it we got on at a linear regression of point 9 1/2 measures of heaven so basically when you think I like the finance and align a matched 99% while so this is like when Tesla saying sitter cars drive for us in Kenaston yeah probably writing is probably better than good and let the algorithm to the driving if and only studies that I’m sure you’re aware of on human bias we always yeah we can do something better than severely and then you throw Dunnigan there dying Kruger and all about the numbers thinking all about the statistics are a number is that not a lot exactly the statistics show that the algorithms are better now that’s great that when I get out of that but were saying we can see time and we can make it more accurate you should still look at it we still need a person to do the interpretation of that and that we can make the process better and these algorithms are standardized kind of is that another thing you try to do her and said avid individual receives well the right path and I think there are a number of different academic institutions trying to do this on to what we had to do as he had to get together this summit sort of thing called flow Where weight when he actually took all of these different algorithm that people are using okay and then have Allah the actual metrics like these where is down this works better in this situation are matter what time I’m on my at work, on my study with that person the lab giving you the absolute sorry made number one performer automated analysis okay the one whose algorithm has out beat everyone else’s, you that Michael called side effects and it’s in Vancouver right very cool while shot to them because anybody doing this stuff is really helping whole world’s could stuff the MLM is a thank you note amazing job of humanizing something a topic that seems like it could be very scary cancer and in all these big words in science and really brought it home I think for a lot of people that feel comfortable in learning more about fish. While I wonder when you’re looking at this flood and you say some of the Fisher ransom of blue are any of them just like homeopathic 11 out of every 100 million, consisting they be there be in the blood we feel this is something that we think everything I really appreciate on one of the reasons I have the job that I do now and so perfect for me because I’m a scientist and an eight love the intellectual aspect I’m doing but I also love to teach and I love to talk to people in its both yeah this is like the perfect job ready to go out as a world and teach the science that I loved I in either of those things generally people you know people are signed I love people so I’m trying to get smart people together to talk with other people because I’m not like the people and these two don’t I’m more of a burnout person yeah I know you are ideas can stand me for at least an hour to burn your steak I had twilight all hours up to him I cannot not I don’t please episode is brought to you by one and one web hosting with managed cloud hosting options you can run your company your website your log or a fully hosted Sacca service including Linux and Windows we love WordPress here electrical cactus on the work has community around 11 is a deep well of knowledge that can keep your site new and relevant for years to come what we need to do is go to our critical cactus.net/1 in one go there set up your site make your new ideas come true find ways to change the world we know you have those ideas don’t get bogged down and to do what you do thank you so much for your help we can talk about the bubonic plague the bubonic plague we were talking about what we were yeah there was an outbreak about two hours north here that some fleas have tested positive for it but I don’t think it’s moved on to you don’t vaccinate your pet mean all in the dark ages all over him I am super excited we can get polio back regarding measles measles and measles back to like play/back rubella got what you cut this isn’t due to vaccinations but we’ve got on which McCullough the breathing one rabies known tetanus: of pneumonia now it’s the one that it was a really on Russian prisons whooping cough that I may leave our come on so a rush of the three low system circulars of thank you be okay my initial a big way we got healed her TB owners for TV I’m super excited about the yeah yeah so anyway so before we go to far down this tangent talking with a plague how to cure them non-attendance at love you know well you know me how what so if were to talk about a fruit diet not being homeopathy than what’s out what constitutes homeopathy okay so homeopathy has a very specific definition I would like to point out that just because something is old and just because something is ancient does not mean that it is wisdom not the timing is valid is Chinese secret I have the fallacy of the yet is no extra credibility there just because it’s €5000 a month and they say all we’ve been doing this for hundreds of years and while you still have that the committee yes I know dinosaurs are real because their old it really happened so homeopathy any of it is when you say it people think of all these you know all my mom says that I need to do this for this particular thing or whatever right but it’s chicken noodle soup but when skeptics talk about homeopathy there saying the treatment of disease by minute doses of natural substances that in a healthy person would produce symptoms of disease so you can take something like snake venom okay you take some snake venom is usually not think benefits usually something like the bubonic plague of and you put a little tiny bit of it in some water and then you start up and then you take that watering you dilute it and dilute it but with more and more water pouring it into bigger and bigger containers until this very very little if anything nothing left in there and the thought is, magical thought where now the tiniest little bit of this that can’t hurt me is in there so I’m going to consume it in the energy of it will now be part of my energy and together we can no longer be afraid of the thing that that it was originally an SourceSafe sounds a vaccine of is already asked – except now you’re treating you well know I mean there’s a huge difference because like when you when you vaccinate someone aside from all the stuff that can kill you and is best this Mercury we can versions of of whatever it is that they’re trying to vaccinate your consumer so defending this two different types of vaccines I think right side and dad as well so weakened or dead so that you can produce antibodies against that particular disease array but in homeopathy there is nothing there for you to produce antibodies against its associate is so diluted and it’s like saying I’m up for this Coke into the Pacific the Pacific Ocean and then the specific I’m going to go like I did that somewhere in California and I want to fly over to Hawaii and get my cop and pull little bit of water out and be like all right now that’s how diluted were talking I’d read a manager is actually not unless there’s nothing I actually read an analogy about that about adding drops to the ocean though it’s it’s way worse way small have it it would be like if you took a Coke you took an eyedropper to drop the back of the drop in the now I’m drinking now to coax and now my body say that you have nothing left but there’s also there’s some ritualistic aspects to it as well when you know to shake it up used was licked happy to get the leather bound book 00 cool that’s the interesting now that I man you know that there is books there as I can and others calls know that so homey and diluted homeopaths have these books there like dictionaries to basically tell you what you’re supposed to apply to any given element and the quote” updated so they’re all super all socially comes to my whooping cough you you I should probably look at the name of books and call it something vague but they do have names you look at the book you apply these tinctures to your to your solution either alcohol or distilled water and then you begin to the deletion process and the guy that that started homeopathy he believed that the more diluted something was the better it was for you so long to signal real while I will there’s a guy who thinks the that make sense yeah less of something that’s in there the more effective rashes that he that makes sense automatically correlation how we burst out yeah relation dosages and stuff but I mean if that’s the case I think it was the all well what’s the harm if it makes people feel better what’s the harm on the farm and everything that we think of as natural apathy or apathy and that they’re not going to get actual medical treatment right yeah there it is a case Steve Jobs if you have a migraine and there is a pill for you to take that says and maybe has a slight Siebel affect maybe you wanted to be true so you’re just telling yourself I don’t really have the static you know it is the only headaches are sometimes can be all a little heart any sort of pain specific inside your body is not something you measure wares of your elbow just doesn’t you know bend all the way you can measure a goal and how it bends a little bit better another thing medicine with a headache you can’t really objectively define how bad it is you know success so if you have this pill that you’re taking and it’s sort of making a better bet you have a persistent headache from the time you wake up to the timing of that day in and day out in India if you’re not taking this homeopathy business seriously than maybe a little doctor and maybe the find the tumor that’s causing a headache in the beginning instead of taking this pill in China tell yourself you’re okay for even like again from what stage to what stage are you take this homeopathy treatment all the way through stage I until you’re in stage II when I have a now your survivor is lesser chance of surviving so the harm is real it really is there so and it’s a huge industry the alternative medicine business alone is $34 billion billion with we be and US$34 billion yeah yeah so I got to get in on some of that would put it in perspective is not as if the cancer industry in general isn’t huge but the cancer drug market alone is $100 billion so you’re talking about homeopathy being kind of in the same sort of ballpark as actual cancer drugs when you go from 100 billion to 34 billion that’s not too far off in the US alone 6.4 billion and that is homeopathic pills know when I say the entire homeopathic industries dirty 4 billion I’m talking about homeopathic doctors me empathic remedies not just homeopathy funeral home Mayhill’s yeah the little pills and you can buy the single my but will but obviously this industry is heavily regulated and sewn on there could be O awaits no no no longer an old so you don’t even really know what’s in their Skanska quality controls program interject so the the name of the books are called materia America so they use book called materia Medicare and repertoires repertoires being books that were compiled by other researchers okay other than the original dying right and what year we talking about so the inventor was 16th-century 1755 1843 his name is Samuel Hanneman to get it revived it from like ancient Greek texts or something is on the gave it its name argumentation from antiquity yet is what is this that some homeopathic stuff that I may or may not have in my house: so what you do when you live with somebody I mean very intelligent person one of the smartest people you’ve ever met who likes all I know I sort of saying it’s a thing I have friends that are completely unaware that this you know this is coming up stuff I think that you you you need to know yourself if you’re asking me my penis I think you need to know yourself whether or not this person has one of those conditions where they are there actively avoiding taking full responsibility for a big problem by doing this or if they’re just you know appeasing something and it’s just as fine and I mean is there are certain circuits were just like mine all my neck is sore let’s rub raisins on it again when I lavender oil that I think that as I have that really strict definition that you gave it I’ve never heard of of homeopathy right in general I think there’s this huge industry of alternative has been in people who are homeopathic natural path and there they are giving things actually can be very harmful yeah like you said is not regulated for any vitamin B 17 inches cyanide alignment/vitamins out there in a shine melatonin and somebody that anything there’s no quality control and regulation is not sufficient testing for 70 think those are they really could be some James Randy one of my favorite old school been around long time skeptics he does this get where he takes on stage sleeping pills and he will take a whole bottle of the sleeping pill rate on stage where everybody can see and he said he later says well just you guys know that was sleeping pills and I took about six days worth of sleeping pills clearly a fatal dose but they are homeopathic sleeping pills so it even says on the bottom there’s warnings and more warnings and warnings on the back there’s a note be careful you don’t overdose is all these things needs down the whole bottle and it sounds you know if it makes his point which is these are diluted there’s nothing in here but then you talk about regulation you James please don’t do that because you know what’s in there they could put anything in and it’s like the supplement is its falls to the supplement with all the supplements does not regulated muscle builders yeah yeah and you take it your risk sort of thing but it’s it’s a scary thought I mean not not to defend what he’s doing although he does make a good point I mean if it’s that their true homeopathic remedies in the the point is that you should know that they are diluted to the point of being an effective because that is what homeopathy is homeopathy until you could look at the manufacturing and just don’t know you know you think a lot better thought out now now now I am 100% perfect so get this straight I’m not sure that I understand completely I can take a drop of what ever some some something you know the juice that’s can it cure me and I diluted in a diluted and I diluted in this water and the water like some do it it affects the water’s energy yeah and that energy gets in to but is not usually it’s usually it’s different in that it it is like let’s say some pus from somebody’s arm whose disgusting that’s about to fall off they’ll take a tiny bit of epos and say that was the source of whatever it was that was causing this guy’s problem which you could ask a doctor how many different things could have that sort of a color’ wont determine what it originally was if you really want to okay but you can take that and you can take a small amount of that and you can put that a little bit of in some water and then you go to this whole dilution massive dilution process which is not actually not a cheap process they have to do a lot of diluting okay and then you’re taking that so you’re taking some green pastas we’re taking anyway continue beets I was a child okay I try to try to understand what what were putting in my body and and what were doing and just water solution that are still not grocers of the water remember this plus energy yes but yet I mean why doesn’t the water remember everything that’s ever been in a deadly good argument fish that sanding municipal sewage so for that approaches argument I think that’s why they use alcohol or the water for the most part these like alcohol ethanol for diluting the because this water is remembering Ray as meaning would be never safe to drink water you have any here is true here in Flint don’t do it but you really long thing that you do for a really long time it was bad to have the water a minute to come along time to connect a lot of diseases the one I leave there yeah beer yeah good stuff while and it helped a lot for a lot I mean were all here because beer our ancestors would’ve lived through it if it hadn’t been for that distillation process is so good such a good point why does the water remember everything so real quick to get back to Tom’s legal beat thing modern-day homeopath they actually they’ve gotten even lazier they’ve started to do things like capture the sunlight and water NT here some modern homeopathic preparation the call imponderables because they do not originate from a substance but some other phenomena presumed to have been captured by alcohol or lactose examples include x-rays and sunlight and if you want to find crazy people you crazy people how gullible are you there is all of us here including me including you because were human and back in the day we had to take shortcuts and we still do members a minority group that they believe other minority practices include paper preparations were the substance and dilution are written on a piece of paper and either pinned to the patient or put in their pockets or place under a glass of water and then use Radeon next to basically absorb the belief of the fakir to get better yeah I I don’t want to believe that’s true I just don’t remember the last the last podcast we were talking about sovereign citizens and it was very difficult for us to put ourselves in the minds of some who truly believes. Not me out totally severance of you are in I know you’re not you are invited from the coming he is trying to take her had to go to the DMV again but now we have to do the same thing and this is our this is our thing right we have to put ourselves in the mind of someone who’s like all in on the idea that you can right now you do not have headaches sticking in your pocket and have some scientific evidence that that’s no work and I think that people confuse anecdotal evidence and stories with with real evidence I had this thought of what if my doctor is lie would have a lot of doctors are lying to us about our our blood pressure if you go to the mall the there’s a guy usually there that’ll give you a magnetic bracelet you can put on your hand and you put your arms out and pushing your shoulders and and you know without the bracelet you’ll just fall but with the bracelet you’ll have the be balanced and honest and it’s it’s just physics this is a simple trick is to trick magicians use at all it is to it when you get your blood pressure tested in your arms down your blood pressure is higher than if your arms and if you put your arm off so that you I even higher even with your high it with with your heart and your blood pressure will be a much more accurate number and as you lifted higher higher above your head lower in the lower Laura gets until if you have blood pressure taken from you are way up high know they’re not adjusting for that factor when they’re giving you those numbers in the doctor’s office yesterday was her for standing person and you get it across your legs and if your feet are touching hours is up so if my if my feet are just dangling which they always are is those tables are way up there and the nurses just strap and the thing onto my arm just moving along with her day she doesn’t care and I get this number next thing you know I’ve got a 1500 Arcot cardiologist bill that that’s not legitimate is not saying that I’m missing in real Edison life think they think that they’re very aware of that doctors only you and me on and said hello must never take action on a letter okay I’ll do multiple lines on another comic my Monticello beast that can put on her arm to put on her wrist that’s way less accurate I the important thing is that she takes it every day and is a way using the same thing to monitor yeah big work on an incident you’re looking for, you are right houses in the scientific were talking about things that are real and ways that people respond to real data what’s happening when I stick a piece of paper my pocket is anybody going to that that critical thought is going yeah okay placebo or returned to the mean this is why I II these people are not stupid people who are going okay well I think that if the human condition like it worked once so it works okay yeah the gown you as an intelligent person do something that’s teleological you do the two things you so in the research for this topic that I came across was the return to the meeting lane well okay you got a cold what happens on day one of the cold you’re getting worse your sick your sniffly however when I go to whatever was on day to your it depends where usually it’s getting worse right with a 3 to 45 years yes I’m a lawyer may be having little doctor so you’re you’re returning to normal you are returning to the meeting you had a headache maybe you can have a headache for three or four hours how do you know I’m not gonna write so but you have a headache that’s gonna go away in three hours anyway and you know you take that homeopathic remedy and it goes away it goes away or you take that homeopathic remedy and your your cold starts to go away the next day you start to feel a little better or you know send us the pattern finding brain going nuts yes yeah you put in a hope trust power beliefs online do something that you did you know that that made you feel better and your can run with that and remember that – I just look superstitions asked somebody tell you it works in you believe them just goes on you to a down the rented two and a $34 billion I get some of that yeah yeah so what I like would totally sell snake over $35 billion I wouldn’t hold your can I am more honestly I know you he is not do it you Frazier what you and I know you would I’m in power corrupts right you’re just hoping really please let me be corrupt I have a happy life that don’t get it okay no but. If you take less and less of this thing and the less you take the better right one of the things that James Randy said was there’s a story of the guy who had major headaches and he stopped taking his pill and died as he overdosed a very careful you start those who evaluated the defective take nothing pretty sure the map checks out so but then there’s only doctors which is a totally different thing than just homeopathy also my new wax mighty you moron if it was real medicine it wouldn’t of been called alternative medicine… And called medicine you pseudoscience while when you look at the studies in man they have tried in critical trials to prove that homeopathy’s real thing they’ve given these people medicine they’ve done the controls of the placebo-controlled double-blind tried to do reproduction never never wants to have anything more than noise you know it’s never never any data this part of the law and any benefits he could get from a homeopathic treatment because in theory like in theory if you got your paws on like the flu virus and you weakened it and put it in violently drink it there’s a small chance you can develop an antibody it if you had a sore mouth and got in your blood stress system to allow me because got in your blood like 90 chance of that happening is removed when you diluted again in the game over it’s too bad it’s it sucks because like all of these topics I want to be so want to be true I really don’t know that I want this one to be true I I wanted to be some magic energy I mean I’m up at my hands either my trust and sign them okay with that one you all dragons and magic will meet you bedroom but you know what we still call the science magic is just science we haven’t discovered a yellow when I do dialysis the machine sitting next magical and don’t know what the hell it does but yes you do somebody does you do I sort of know well probably you would never make it LOL I was think about Gilligan’s Island deservedly okay now anything they bring in the giant vat of acid in the molecular with the put through my blood no sharper in order okay okay and you know the got a giant that of alkaline water in a bunch of other stuff but I’m pretty sure would kill me yeah remember Alice cloud, cloud Atlas was a catalyst yeah okay yes one church are you sure you for the first time you really is a really good movie when it was the doctor, the doctor one of the versions Tom Hanks with the rest earlier member and he was making that guy sicker and sicker and sicker because he wanted a key of the doctor is that’s, are you putting your trust in that person will idea you guys are talking about all lost is an old movie really that all I also apparently a pretty good but I’ve heard it’s an amazing book probably a better book because the kid talking stuff I liked it really will the thing is I like it because it it made sense like English English is really devolving it is so I was a bit like transfer it to the vault even further further in the future it was just like cloud Atlas like clockwork trick or a popcorn this up all yeah it’s definitely worth watching a no doubt that you will well that’s a sore neck section which is to think of NASA for something something and all the blue I found out that memory foam was not just a side effect of NASA Ness actually put together a very specific effort to say hey we need something for pilots and all that key memory foam and I like the memory foam mattresses and pillows they you help well at night yeah they released they released it to the public consider and we’ve done our thing in Nairobi can have some of it for free it’s like another cause visitors technology now they deal yet I’ll go sell at a space-age technology and it was like so basically anything in the last 60 years the space age technology yeah pretty much sure well thank you everyone for joining me today it’s been a great talk and I wanted to think the audience for being here you guys have any questions regarding’s and got like as you feared that you accept thousands of great feedback would be awesome but I think request Melanie where can we learn more about you or David twitter do you have a Facebook what you do to stay people mostly LinkedIn that he can let me on LinkedIn Melanie and Danny and that and an appearance in the company’s photo.com hello W JL on that I’m happy to share my email or anything if anyone has any questions about college insurance flow cytometry genomics school very cool wanting to get an actual professional were like oh that’s were supposed to know that much of the talk okay will bring more professionals and then with a few again everyone have a great by saying we have started patriotic account so want to help keep us going open your browser and go to patriot on.com/critical cactus your donations will help keep us going thank you for coming.
